Art Saves Lives. This is a place I wanted to share with the community about the importance of art and literacy. I have begun teaching artjournal workshops for kids and adults, as well as working within the schools as an artist in Residence through various grants. I teach photography, journaling, and writing as a way for people to learn about themselves and also as a way to validate their feelings while exploring their beliefs and cultures.
It is my hope that people can come here to learn more, and find inspiration to further their exploration and enrichen their learning and teaching experiences.
This has been a very exciting new development in my work as an artist, and it has been a wonderful way to share my passion for creative expression.
The work, RETABLOS OF HOPE, is from a workshop sponsered through the Border Book Festival and the ENLASA mentoring program in Las Cruces, NM thorugh the ENLASA mentoring program, bringing visiting artist and writers into the public schools in 2004.

Hi there RMRunning!
I came across your blogspot tonight and the "Art Saves Lives." show sounds wonderful. If I'm not mistaken I recently heard an interview with Roberta Rael of KUNM in Albuquerque. She was talking to people associated with ENLACE. I was so proud of the mentor's involed with encouraging and nurturing young 'uns to express themselves via ART.
Que Rico!!!
You have a very interesting site, I hope I can find my way back.
By the way, now I remember what attracted me to this site...you like Nuevo Flamenco and so do I.
In fact if you are near a radio this coming Saturday, August 12th as well as August 19, 2:00pm-5:00pm, both Saturday's. I will have the privledge & pleasure of hosting a program on KUNM FM out of Albuquerque. You can pick us up at KUNM.org & listen on line. I put on Latin Jazz, Bossa NOva, Nuevo Flamenco, Mariachi and other stuff loaded with rhythm & sass.
